I found Fingerprint from Collobos for Airprint and iOS 5 on one of the forums that seems to work great.

There is a trial to test if you decide to purchase. I hope there will be an update on this for iOS5. My 3Gs has been converted to iOS5 and was working just before the upgrade.

Right after I upgraded it, I tested printing out. I thought I would upgrade itunes, to I upgraded from 4. A friend using 4. Help us, please …. Confirmed here as well. This AirPrint service does not work with iOS 5. Did apple change the protocol? Or are they just trying to stop this from working so people will go buy Airprint native printers? But my dev iOS 5 iPhone 4 does not see any printers.

I completed the installation manually and the printer showed up on my iPad, but when I selected it a request for log in and password popped up on the iPad. Anyone have any ideas? I have been using the program from the TadGhostal installation routine for quite some time now.

Except for restarting the AirPrint services once in a while it has run fine. I have returned from vacation and found that I can no longer print from my iPad.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Upgraded iphone to ios 5 beta 7 and printers no longer show up. Once iOS 5 becomes public, we should be updating the same for it as well. To Larry: Did you enable a user account and leave it on in Windows?

As for the user name and password, I had to create one for my administrator account, the other account that must be enabled. The iPhone asked for it once and has remembered it ever since. I found it by watching wireshark traffic. The traffic on was all multicast.

On windows 7 I had to create an inbound firewall rule that allowed a connection from port to port Can anyone help with this? When I go to my itouch App the printers show up. Originally the Air Print was working and after the first printing it no longer worked. For those who have Windows 7 64 bit and the installer gives you an error message, this worked for me:. Something about a file not found. Then, back to Processes. Now it let me start AirPrint! Works great! I had to go to Firewall, browse for the AirPrint folder in Programs x86 and add it then.

Pardon me while I print something from my iPad…….. This firewall suggestion allowed my ipad to at least prompt me for credentials; now I need to figure that step out! I needed to turn on my guest account to stop the prompting for credentials. Started the manual instructions and unfortunately mistyped a line of text. Very nice guys! All good — works with iTunes I initially had a problem with print jobs arriving in the queue and then disappearing without anything ever being send from the queue to the printer — turned out to be the print management software I was using at home PaperCut NG not being able to identify the user since jobs submitted via the AirPrint service come through as being owned by the SYSTEM account in Windows, not the name of the username you specify when you initially authenticate against the print server hosting the AirPrint queue.

Changing the account the service was run under to my own account allowed me to print — not the best solution since only I can print from my iOS devices, but better than no printing at all! I have been running Air Print without problem for sometime through a 2 wire ATT DSL modem to a wireless brother printer and two wire connected printers.

Two ipads and an Itouch -no problem, email options reply, forward print or cancel. However with an older Itouch with os 4. I followed the directions and it is working.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with others. And to think I was considering buying a ipad compatable printer. You saved me bundles. After this go to your ios device and it will print!! Now for the life of me I can get it to work. So close… I can see the printer share on my ipad, send jobs to it authenticated, see them appear in the spool queue and then they are gone — without anything ever being sent to the printer Was easy — installed as instructed — no printing Checked the firewall — open and ready Shared printer as suggested by another user — printer showed up and printing is now enabled.

Prints right out of Safari, very nice. Device: iPad iOS: 4. I had the padlock issue also nothing happened when I clicked on it, it would just sit there and think, then still nothing. PS, was printed from my iphone 4 and ipad 2. I used your command line instructions and now have a non-working AirPrint in ProgramFiles x86 and want to know how I uninstall and start over. Thank you so very much! FYI — I had to update. Then type as instructed into Command Line Interface, anyone remember the Amiga?

This will help me set up my elderly mother to print now. This stays open during the printing process and shows the following commands whilst the printer is printing :.

Accepting conection from fexxxx. I have the same exact problem as the very 1st post here and yet — nobody has come up with a possible solution?! Ever since being on 4. Finally got it working even though I had a few hiccups along the way. Some tips that worked for me:. Make sure the firewall message comes up, otherwise you need to go into the firewall and add the AirPrint.

Reboot everything, modem, iPad, etc. Follow what this guy says. The current installer is broken. It looks like it is looking for the log file in the wrong location. Worked around the password issue by turning on Guest access,. It would then let me print from her iPhone or iPad by typing Guest into the user name field and leaving password blank. Royal pain though.

Reminded me of why I hate Windows. Hopefully her next purchase will be a MacBook Air. Firstly thanks heaps for this trick, I have used this in the past on different Win7 32 and 64 Bit setups. I now have mac bootcamp to win7 64 I have airprint service as stopped on services and am unable to restart it. I dont want and expect you to troubleshoot. As I plan to go through the process again. I installed the Bonjour-printer wizard, so I can see on my computer if it works.

Everyday I did a lot of things shut do won the Comodo firewall, restart de services.. Today I found out when they show up: the only thing I did was opening the Printers windows, open the properties of one of my printers, change the Share-name, click on the Apply button, and bam: there were the printers.

I changed the share-name back to what it was, and the printers are still there. This was something I did every day, but only after stopping the firewall, so I thought the Firewall was the problem.

Of course, this is not the ideal solution it should work without any interference so if someone knows a better solution…. Thanks to all the advice.

I finally got mine to work after enabling printer sharing via control panel. Very useful page! The error message complained about that setup. I could not find any info on the internet on how to make it work, and this is the solution I found: — run setup. Guest account is on, printer is shared.

After pressing print, however, nothing prints. Anyone failed after getting this far? Iassume that you see your printer on the phone and the phone act as it does print. If so, I had similar issue with iPAD. Every thing seemed to work, the iPAD seemed to print, but no print job comming out.

This was solved after I reseted the iPAD not turn off — reset. Try and let us know if it worked for you too. Good luck. It took awhile, but my new wireless router came. I can get printing to work with some effort, but this may not work for others:. I love my iPad, but hate iTunes for Windows…but I digress. Airprint may not work the best for this, but I have done the following.

Wait a moment. Then Start the Airprint service. Check your iPad assuming you are using an iPad and you may see the printers now. I am not sure, but I believe Airprint does not refresh its printer list well. Thus, the timing of the services may be an issue. Bonjour active.

Airprint active. Printer set to share. Rebooted computer. Reset iPad. In futile attempt, re-typed CMD lines as listed above. What else can I do? If i give print and the printer is in pause mode, the one that i send very first time is reaching to PC and the print file is in queue. The subsequent print request that i send is not reaching to printer queue. My printer wil be in pause mode always. In this case, if the current queue is empty, then only the other print request is reaching to server.

If i kill and start the airprint service again, all the pending request is reaching to printer queue. We cannot kill and start continuosly because print request may given by any one in the network. Just and update. I thought that perhaps it was multicasting that was causing the problem, but testing with another wireless router that is known to work with Airprint, nothing changed. Not a huge deal, I rarely have the need to print from the iPad, just would like to on those off occassions.

Everything worked except for 1 small detail.. I get the error , when attempting to install the software given at the top of this thread.

Please help! Now I attempt to install the program at the top of this thread and I get the Following error message Excuse the French I will make my best to translate :. Yeah, tried all that. Followed the instructions on windows home server that has a USB attached canon printer. Only change was I had to use the administrators userid and password for the whs. Final point was to be patient for the first time attempting to print. It took about 4 minutes. After this it works much quicker. Many thanks saved me getting a new printer. I have now finally been able to print from an ipad2 and a canon MP Hurray :!!!

When I entered the DOS commands stated at the beginning of the instructions. This was solved by adding -d to the first command, thus: sc. The ipad 2 now found the printer, but this was locked and required a user name and a password to work.

After saving, I entered this data in the ipad fields and the printing finally started. I hope this also works after logging off and on again!

Is there a work around? I had this problem too. I fixed it by manually running airprint. This should make the Firewall dialog box appear. This time it should ask you for your username and password : Just use your Windows username and password. Once the printer is connected, you can close the Airprint window on your PC, as the service will still be running in the background.
